The African Fine Coffees Association (AFCA), in partnership with the Tanzania Coffee Board, hosted the Coffee Value Assessment (CVA) training for cuppers on November 23–24, 2025, in Mbeya, Tanzania. The two-day practical course brought together coffee professionals from across the country to strengthen their sensory evaluation skills.
The training was led by instructors Martha Niwińska and Filip Bartelak, who introduced participants to the new SCA Coffee Value Assessment framework. The program included multiple cupping sessions, guided practice, and open discussions to help learners better understand how to assess and communicate coffee’s value.
By the end of the training, participants had improved their confidence, consistency, and alignment when evaluating coffee quality. The event marked an important step in preparing skilled cuppers to support the continued growth and improvement of Tanzania’s coffee industry.
